How are you all doing? I cannot believe it’s December already – where did time go???

Yesterday marked the end of a seven part series on my adaptation of For Coloured Girls – I received an overwhelming response from a lot of you and for that I would like to say a HUGE thank you.

Some days I write and I am not sure anyone is reading, so hearing back from my readers – in from of comments or whether you message me personally – is always such a good thing. It’s an amazing feeling knowing someone out there is able to find meaning in my words… so once again thank you 🙂

Seeing as I am still in the spirit of colours, my next two posts will be about colours. One written by me and the other written by a friend of mine whose poem was inspired by the one you’ll be reading today.

They mean a lot

Different people have different meanings

Colors

Bright or dark

Plain or patterned

Its always one or the other

Full with meaning

Deep with illustrations

Maybe I’ll share what some colors mean to me

Not ‘off white’

Purity

Clarity

Peace

Serenity

Solitude

The good kind

Ataraxia

Aphrodisiac

Incense

Spiritual

Spirituality

Cleanliness

Cleansing

Battles

Inner battles

Good conquering evil

Black

Darkness

Fear

Cliché…but evil

Deepness unseen

Circumstances unknown

Uncertainty

Pain

Sorrow

Bad

Bad

Faith lost

Choices ignored

All of these

You see, red is good

But

Red…bad, it can be bad

To do or not to do

Conscious doubts it brings

Red…that’s what it’ll do

Royalty

Pride

Authority

Arrogance

Ceremonious

Luxurious

Wealth

Purple reminds me of you

Grey

Grey is uncertain

Neither here nor there

Boring

Conservative

Grey is old

The good old

The knowing old

Grey is secure

Grey

You respect grey

You can hate grey

But grey is grey

Reliable

Modest

Grey is dramatic

The kind you need

Grey

It reminds you that things are never what they are

Never what they seem

That things are beyond what we see

I could go on and on

Colors

They make me happy

Colors

They make me sad

Colors

You see them everyday

On your emotions they prey

Watch them…in an array

Or even in a quay

Colors…they can make you ‘gay’

Have you seen them in a bouquet?

All those colors on display…

Don’t ever think colors are not in your way

‘Cos colours…colours, they can lead you astray.
