I(dyllic)

The sound of rain
Hitting their naked skin
As they jump up and down
In muddy puddles

Singing
Ceremoniously
‘Rain rain go away
Come again another day
Little children want to play…’

Ironic isn’t it?

I hear their laughter
The sound
It resonates
Making my heart jump

My mind
It’s transported
To green pastures
And familiar scents

Butterflies
Flapping their wings
In perfect synchrony
To the sounds of the wind

The water
Flowing calmly
As the ripples
Move in rhythm

I see the birds
Singing ceremoniously
And the trees
They sway to their tune

Ataraxia

‘…Little children want to play
Rain rain go away…’

They dance
Their footsteps
Mimicking the rain
As it hits the corrugated roof

They smile
As they try
Unsuccessfully
To drink the rain

How good it must be
To be young
And to be free

Tranquility

I try to drown their sounds
As I see myself walking
Arms swiveling around
As I try to touch the sky

Somedays
I wish I was a cloud
Floating beautifully
As I converse with the sky
Unharmed
By the day time sun
While I long
For the moon

Equanimity

To find yourself
Searching constantly
For silence
Peace
For your own happy place

‘…Rain rain go away
Come again another day…’

Can I run free?

For a moment
I hear nothing
I see nothing
And it’s perfect

This is the moment
I want to last forever
Silence amidst
Happy chaos

Suddenly
The rain stops
The children change their tune
‘Oh Mr Sun, Mr Golden Sun
Please, shine down on me…’
