So…. you guys remember when I was asking if anyone wanted to write a collaborative poem with me??? Well, my good friend Rai was kind enough to indulge me.

This poem was finished over a month ago but *insert a reasonably good excuse here*

Lauren actually went into a mini-fit in my comments and thought I had stopped blogging completely lol – I’m sorry Lauren and I love you for calling me out and I’m sorry I stopped posting regularly but *insert another reasonably good excuse here*

I particularly LOVE this poem written by Rai and I… it just felt like we could reach each others minds. She is such a beautiful writer but she refuses to share her work *rme*.

My thoughts are rippling
Bouncing off the blank space
That which is my mind

One by one ricocheting
On the veneer of my mind

Unanswered questions
Lust, love and all in between
Hugs, kisses, fucking

All my demons out to play
The horn and the halo, at war

I realise now
That all I thought was true love
Was me so afraid

Of finding a safe haven
A place to accept myself

I feel so alone
Why is it so hard to love?
Why does it hurt so?

What is this sorrow of self?
Where are all my promised joys?

I sit here wanting
Longing for my hearts freedom
Beating…for myself

The love of a decayed self
Gnawing out of its dark grave

Is this a rough patch?
A fucking gem in the rough?
Will I emerge new?

With new skin and scales shed off
Or is this how my soul burns?

I don’t need the time
I just want to flip the page
And feel like brand new

Catch my reflection smiling
Teach myself to dance again

If I let things play
And I worry even less
Will this go away?

Will freedom be mine again
Without these aches, these old cuts?

From lost forlorn love
To a perfect happy ending
I laugh at my dreams!

And my demons laugh back too
I need to break free, exhale

Corn fields and meadows
Lakes with shimmering waters
My ataraxia

A safe place, to find my Zen
One body, soul and spirit
