Your hands

Today’s poem is very special to me. It signifies a point in my life where I learnt to start trusting… not just other people but also myself.

“He who does not trust enough, will not be trusted

– Lao Tzu”

Give me your hand

Lead that I may follow

Give me your hand

Teach so that I may learn

Give me your hand

Show so that I may watch

From top to bottom

From less to more

Give me your hand

So that I may feel

Feel your soul through the tips of your fingers

Please give me your hand

Don’t just tell me

Don’t just stand there

Don’t just yell all day long

Give me your hand

Let it tell me what to do

Let it move

Let it move me

You see your hands

They say a lot

It let’s me know when you’re mad

Let’s me know when you want me

Let’s me know when you don’t

Your hands

A message they convey

Every time I get to hold them

So please, give me your hand

So that I may know what you know

Together we’ll be

In sickness

And in health

Just give me your hand

Let it trust me

And me you

Often I’ve wondered

What you see in me

But your hands, they tell me

When words fail you

Your hands, they speak to me

They’re soft when you’re sad

And when I hold them I want to cry

Just please, give me your hand

And don’t question why

This silence it kills me

And your hands I’ll hold, till days go dry.
