Recently, I’ve found myself caught in the spell of beautiful K-drama love stories and endless doom-scrolling through poetry on Instagram. Being the hopeless romantic that I am, it only felt right to write a love story of my own.
I was chatting with my sister not long ago, telling her how much I love the stillness of my thoughts, how they often wander into the most vivid, made-up stories of life and love. We laughed so hard at some of my stories, because who doesn’t enjoy the idea of a perfect alternate reality? 🙂
And so, from my little daydreams to yours, I give you Until You…
In English, we say,
It was love at first sight…
But in poetry, we say
When I first laid my eyes on you,
the world held its breath
The day unwrapped itself in colours I had never seen,
the birds stitched the air with music,
and my heart…
paused
Leaving me breathless
Your presence was not an arrival
It was a recognition
As though my soul remembered something
my body had only just discovered
Every word you spoke
was music I had been waiting to hear
Every glance you gave
was a page from the story
I always hoped to live
The air wrapped us in silence,
yet inside me everything was shouting:
Here you are…
the one I did not know I was missing
I did not fall in love with you
I returned to it
As if love had been waiting, patiently,
for this very moment to unfold
So when they ask me what it felt like,
I will tell them this:
The sun paused in the sky
Time bent to make room for us
And in your eyes…
I found a forever
I never knew I was waiting for
