Concrete fists

Today’s post is dedicated to all the women (and men) out there that are victims of domestic violence. I read a story recently that broke my heart… If you’re out there and you’re reading this, I just want you to know that YOUR LIFE MATTERS!

“Please don´t drown into his fears, his concrete fists don´t let him again, break the bridge of your nose with his cruel born hits. Then disappear into that mask of misery.”

― Anthony Liccione

Ten…
I gave you myself for 10years
My life I sacrificed
So you could have yours
My face
Plastered in fake smiles
My body adorned expensive jewellery
The world…envious
Of our life
Of our love

Nine…
That’s how many times I tried
To leave
To move on
To flee
To be free
To be strong
To start over
To be new
Re born

Eight…
I bled
For eight hours
Waiting for you to stop
As I lay there lifeless
While you hit me
Beat me
Dragged me
Destroyed me
Broke me down

Seven…
Grand apologies
Spread across continents
Your words written
In sand
Alas!
It got washed away
By the sea
And the salt
Burned the scars left behind

Six…
Beautiful red roses
That made me think
Maybe
Just maybe
It signified a new start
The roses
Soaked up my blood shot tears
Fusing into its roots
Making your love and my pain the same

Five…
Meetings I attended
‘Stay’ they said
‘Time will heal your wounds’
‘Be patient’
‘Pray’
‘You have it easy’
For years
Myself I blamed
I wasn’t good enough for you!

Four…
Opportunities
I had lost myself
A shadow
I had become
I live to survive
Like an animal
In the wild
You, my hunter
I, your prey

Three…
Cuts I made
Merging pain
On pain
Hoping if you saw me bleed
You would stop
New scars
On old ones
Every day
A different pain

Two…
My babies
Children I left behind
To grow up with you
Their father
My husband
The monster
Who will save them?
Who will take my place?
Who will love them?

One…
All it took was one
The last blow
I was dead even before I died
I watched
As my body hit the ground
And I screamed
For I knew
At that moment
IT WAS TOO LATE!!!

That’s written beautifully written. Sad yet true for so many, and quite heartbreaking indeed.

Thank you for reading. It’s really sad. I’ve stumbled on so many domestic violence cases recently and it broke my heart!!! I just wish people would realise their life and happiness matters too

It’s a struggle for some to remove themselves from the situation and most people don’t understand just how difficult it can be to leave.

It is almost impossible to leave an abuser. Your self-esteem is so beaten down you know without being told that you are too stupid to exist without him…you are too ugly for anyone else to care about you…you are too worthless to be of use to anyone…..you are too lazy to get and keep a job….you are too dumb to raise these children and everyone, just everyone is better off without you. You somehow get the courage to leave, he catches you and says do it again and I kill.your parents, the children, your friends,…you. You have no money for a cab, a bus, a train, plane…you have no phone to call a friend…………..you have no more connection to family as he has kept you from them for years……you can not leave. He will find you wherever you go and kill you……or take your children away forever. You know all of this. It has been screamed at you during the beatings. Some of us understand and bless you for speaking out.

I literally got the chills while reading this. It’s scary to think of the people out there going through this… I hope they someday find the courage to move on and realise they can always start over.
