Muffled Screams – Lady in Blue

Hello everyone… It’s been another quiet few days here. It’s so hard juggling mummy duties and writing at the same time! I finally finished today’s post last night after procrastinating for about a week lol.

Still on my ‘For Coloured Girls’ series, today we hear from the Lady in Blue.
You may want to read previous poems in this series –

Part 1: Carpe Diem – Lady in Brown

Part 2: Pro Choice – Lady in Red

Part 3: Forlorn Love – Lady in Purple

I wake up every night

I see the same thing in my dreams

I see myself…

Tears in my eyes

Muffled screams

I cannot let this keep happening

My story needs to be heard

I used to love blue

The sky

The ocean

I got a blue bracelet once

I was told it signified trust

Loyalty

Truth

So the day I met you

I thought you were the one

The sky was wonderfully  blue

You wore a blue shirt

It matched your pretty blue eyes

And I had on my blue bracelet

You see – perfection!

On the Piccadilly line we rode

Crammed up during rush hour

We talked and laughed

And made silly jokes

I felt like I’d known you a long time

And for a split second

I imagined what life would be like forever

As time went by

Your friends I knew

And our friendship flourished

Like a blossoming flower

We enjoyed each other

Hours felt like seconds

Time was never enough

It seemed not so strange

When you invited me over

We’d done this time without number

Movies

Popcorn

Wine

And a goodnight kiss

Until one day

It became my worst nightmare

A goodnight kiss

And a caress here and there

Backed I leaned, signalling you to stop

But

You never did

I used to love blue

Up until that night

My little blue dress

You ripped to shreds

My bracelet gone

Right along

With my trust in everyone

Now I’m a shadow of myself

And life has lost it’s meaning

I have a frown

Where my smile used to be

Everything seems to bring me down

Blue now reminds me

Of a life I once knew

I still see you

Every now and then

You look past me like I don’t exist

A glint in your eye

A smirk on your face

I see you lurking

Looking for your next prey

I cannot let it happen

I will not let it happen to another

You took with you

A piece of me

But that’s the last piece

You’ll ever see

The last piece you’ll ever have

I summon

All the courage in me

And walk into the station

With your details on display

Who am I?

A different woman, with new found strength

I am the Lady in Blue
